Multiple short erotic/love poems

I burn for you in dreams.
My insides are molten,
A fire I stoke with unbidden memories
of your strong hands on me.
Daylight holds no trace of you.
The hours are stark and long.
I yearn for your return
in the embrace of night.
Burn with me there,
in white-hot flame,
and let the ashes of our joining
scatter through the heavens.
I long to taste your sea,
that salty mineral tang.
To move with the rhythm of your tides,
ride your waves
through a spray of foamy white.
Swim in your deep waters,
and surface alive and hungry.
Everything feels suspended.
The hourglass slows its trickle and
the wheel grinds still.
I float in the in-between,
waiting for fate to find me and
release the stasis of my limbs
with a kiss.
My eyes search for you,
and instead find a world
holding its breath,
stuck in a dance from years ago.
Before me, a mirror reflects
a face I used to know.
The face of one
who has been waiting.
Each strand of string
tied around my finger
has you at the other end.
Stretching between lifetimes,
the threads pull and slacken
as we move along our paths.
I feel the knot tug at my soul
rubbing its mark into me,
one I’ll carry always.
I want to reel the strings in,
bring you with them,
close enough to hold
and never let go.
But you have your world,
and it isn’t mine.
I must let the strings go free
and trust the working of time.
I’m chasing stars in cosmic scenes.
Black holes beckon.
I enter willingly and emerge into nothingness.
I orbit the planets and moon ice stings my face.
Looking for light, I see only dark.
The planets glide serenely past my confusion,
their orbits known and clear.
Dim hope flickers with the stars
and a comet’s tail lights
a new path.
I will continue to do me the way I do.
I’ll live my life,
put on the expected smile.
But I can’t deny
part of me will always
remain with you.
Tell me—am I just someone you outgrew?
Will I ever know why you left?
Will you ever explain?
Or are you going to leave me
to stew in my own thoughts,
waiting for an answer
that may never come?
The two of us together,
a mirage in my mind,
played forward, then rewind,
heart open, eyes blind.
Backward-facing footsteps
buried in the sands of time.
I cared more for you than for myself.
I think I lost my mind.
And all I want to know is
were you ever really mine?
