Relentless
Morning is your time.
You come up, regular as the sun
the minute the light hits the curtains,
turning them translucent.
The birds start chirping
and your voice joins them
in ushering me into the day.
Sometimes I give in
and you fill me to the brim,
pushing away coherent thought,
leaving me undone.
Other times I resist, push you away,
rise to put the coffee on,
and get on with the day,
There’s never a second
you’re completely gone,
but you can still surprise me,
stop me in my tracks.
At night you settle in with me,
visit the streets of my dreams,
the lead actor in plays
I don’t understand.
You never demand, but consume me
quietly, relentlessly, completely.

This is so good! I think we all have that one memory (whatever or whoever it is) that is with us. Sometimes we embrace it and sometimes maybe ignore it. But, it is that memory that holds us almost hostage and no matter how many years go by, that memory is there, when we get up, when we lay down, when we sleep in our dreams. That's how this spoke to me! I loved it!
Am I the only one dying to know what this presence is? I can tell you, I resonate with “it” even if your “it” and my “it” are different ❤️🤭
