Short pieces from prompts
a motley collection of my last/your first line-based poems
Prompt: “But a heart mid-kiss doesn’t lie the way a mouth does”

But a heart mid-kiss doesn’t lie
the way a mouth does.
Your words say no
your eyes say yes.
Your heart pledges loyalty
through lifetimes
even as your body steals away
while I lie sleeping.
What do I believe?
The truth of your kiss
or the lies of your mouth?
Prompt: “You leave me thinking twice”

You leave me thinking twice.
Will you, won’t you?
Should I?
Can we?
Are you real? A dream?
I ask questions with my touch
and the answers come:
Sunshine, salt,
honey and tears.
Prompt: “Bian Lian”
Can you tell who I am,
The secrets I guard,
The faces I wear
Under the spectacle you see?
The threads you pull
racing me through
myriad expressions,
as I splinter underneath?
